The Stanton + Williams brand of Style Therapy is based on two principle tenets: wardrobe efficiency and effective non-verbal communication. Most people wear 20% of their clothing 80% of the time. Of that 20%, is the clothing sending the intended message?
Whether we like it or not, we're judged (and make judgments of our own) within three seconds of meeting someone. Before we utter a word an assessment has been made about our livelihoods, where we live and our level of education.
New Yorkers are faced with several challenges. They work long hours in the most competitive and style-conscious city in the world, making it difficult to set aside time for wardrobe maintenance. Through services like the Closet Detox, where items are purged because they no longer suit the client, and personal shopping, where wardrobe voids are filled, Simone addresses individual needs and creates the most optimum results possible.
Simone Serwer is a 2010 graduate of the M.A. in Visual Culture:
Costume Studies + Fashion Theory program at New York University and earned a certificate in Image Consulting from the Fashion Institute of Technology. Simone explores the manners in which dress is used as non-verbal communication and how marginalized members of society employ it as a means of assimilation. She also examines dress as material culture, with an emphasis on identity construction, class and consumption.
In 2007 Simone founded Stanton + Williams Style Therapy, a fashion
consulting firm that addresses the semantics of clothing. Her career
in fashion includes working in the design department of the contemporary brand Theory and assisting Project Runway's Tim Gunn while he was the chair of the Fashion Design program at Parsons Schoolof Design. Simone has also lectured on dress and material culture at the New School and most recently presented research at the Florida Consortium for Women's Studies Conference and the Mid-America American Studies Association Conference at The University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is a member of the Costume Society of America and lives in New York City.
I can't say enough about Simone's abilities as a style therapist. My taste tends to run slightly counter-fashion and this has always made it hard for me to find clothes I feel comfortable in. Simone was able to respect my personal taste, while introducing me to more current and flattering styles than the old looks I was clinging to.

Preparing for a big move, I used Simone's Closet Detox
service with the hopes of less to pack and more style confidence to gain. With Simone's assistance I achieved
both. Professional, courteous and well versed in fashion, Simone helped me to weed out wardrobe pieces that didn't currently reflect who I was and reorganize my closet to take steps in the right style direction.

She's a patient yet focused advisor on what items in your closet work best for your lifestyle, career and passions. Style Therapy is a great experience for even those who have individual style but don't have the time or patience to really look at what's in your closet.

Simone has done what no one, including my mother,
could do: made shopping fun! Gasp! I know I am supposed
to love shopping, but it has never been my favorite activity.
Working with Simone has defined my style and taste, which
has helped me develop a wardrobe I am proud to show off!
I would be lost without her guidance and look forward to
working with her each time we get together.

Simone has helped me recognize which colors and
silhouettes suit me best. We went through every single
piece of my wardrobe and she gave me suggestions for
what to put together and what to toss. I recommend her services to everyone no matter what walk of life. You should always look your best and Simone will help you do that.

My closet needed fresh eyes and ideas. I see what I need
and I onlybuy it if I truly love it. I feel a lot more organized. Simone stayed focused on our mission and brought fresh
ideas to old favorites in my closet. My husband and wallet
are grateful! I would definitely use her again.

I sought out Style Therapy because I wanted to inject my wardrobe with more life and needed to purge my closet of clothing I had not worn for a long time. I liked that she was patient but firm and made sure that she stuck around for everything I asked her about.
Susan, Actor | Los Angeles
Style Therapy has helped me seek the most out of every piece
I purchase. Simone helps people who are sartorially challenged, as well as those who need help pulling their wardrobe together and making it streamlined and cohesive.
